Authorities asked the public Wednesday to help identify a man who they said prevented a woman from leaving a locker room bathroom at a clinic in Hillcrest over the summer.

The man is wanted on suspicion of false imprisonment in connection with the incident, which occurred about 11:15 a.m. Aug. 20 at UC San Diego Airway Research & Clinical Trials Center on Dickinson Street.

Authorities said the man pictured walked into a locker room at a Hillcrest clinic and kept a woman from leaving a restroom.

Authorities said the man blocked the 30-year-old woman’s path when she tried to walk out of the bathroom, asking her, “Do you want this?” while gesturing to his body. The man walked out of the bathroom but held onto the exterior door knob to keep the woman from locking the door.

The man walked into the bathroom and blocked the woman’s path four times before she successfully locked herself in the bathroom, authorities said. She waited until she heard a co-worker — the man had left — before walking out.

The man was described as White, 6 feet tall, thin, unshaven, with short, dark-colored hair and a gray patch near his right temple, a tribal tattoo around his right arm, and other tattoos on his left arm. He was wearing khaki shorts, a yellow safety vest and dark-colored tennis shoes.

Anyone with information about his identity or location was asked to contact the San Diego Police Department’s Western Division at (619) 692-4800 or the San Diego County Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477 or via sdcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers said a $1,000 reward is available for information that leads to an arrest.
